It is necessary to nurture … a contemplative outlook … arising from faith in God, the author of life, who has “wonderfully made” each person …

REFLECTION: There are two ways to look at a tree: we can calculate the value of the lumber; or we can be moved by the beauty of the branches. Both views have their place, but our culture has gone overboard in calculating usefulness to the detriment of reverence.

This is especially dangerous when we look at human lives for their productivity rather than their dignity.

PRAYER: Lord, fill us with wonder as we contemplate human life and all Your creation.
