Psalm 23: The Lord, Shepherd and Host

For this week and for my first post I chose Psalm 23. Before I delve into my reflection however, I would like to give you a short introduction. In preparation for this blog, I went in search for other Christian bloggers both out of curiosity and for inspiration. I was surprised to find that there were only a few young Christian bloggers and even fewer posts addressing the topic of what it means to be a young Christian woman in today’s world. This only fueled my desire to follow through with creating this blog. So in short, I will be sharing my walk with Christ. In the past my faith life has not been as active as I would have liked, but with the aid of this regime I will strive to learn all that I can about our King. Which brings me to today’s selected Psalm:

I. The Lord is my shepherd;
there is nothing I lack.
In green pastures he makes me lie down;
to still waters he leads me;
he restores my soul.
He guides me along right paths
for the sake of his name.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff comfort me.

II. You set a table before me
in front of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Indeed, goodness and mercy will pursue me
all the days of my life;
I will dwell in the house of the Lord
for endless days.

This is a very popular Psalm, most who have read Scripture or attended church will recognize at least part of it. At the start of this big commitment and life changing decision it is essential for me to remember that I can do all things through Christ. Even in my darkest moments He is by my side, constantly trying to lead me back towards the Light; He has done everything for me, including death on the cross. Now its my turn to try my absolute best to love Him in return. Happy Easter.
